A true success story within Hourigan, Marquita Edmonds has forged an impressive career path from field laborer to Community & Workforce Engagement Manager. With nearly two decades of experience across multiple roles—including foreman, assistant superintendent, and safety coordinator—she brings a first-hand understanding of Hourigan’s culture, people, and operations.

In her current role, Marquita leads Hourigan’s subcontractor outreach and engagement efforts, building strategic partnerships with Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) and SWaM-owned businesses. She works closely with project teams to advance equity and access through thoughtful procurement and outreach practices—helping ensure opportunity is expanded and engagement is integrated into every phase of a project. Marquita also plays a key role in Hourigan’s workforce development efforts, connecting with thousands of students and professionals annually to promote careers in construction and strengthen the future talent pipeline.

Beyond external partnerships, Marquita helps shape Hourigan’s internal culture by supporting programs that reinforce belonging, support, and growth. She leads Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that provide connection and community across the organization and helps cultivate a workplace where employees feel respected, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Passionate about building capacity and opportunity, Marquita continues to advance Hourigan’s commitment to equity, access, and workforce development across the communities it serves.

For Marquita, Hourigan feels like family in every sense—she’s proud to work alongside her father, Willie, who serves as Assistant Warehouse Manager on the Equipment Rental team.
