Hourigan Hooligans Support of The Doorways via Paintball Battle

04.19.16 | News

On a beautiful Saturday in April, the Hourigan Hooligans put forth a valiant effort on the field of paintball in support of The Doorways, an organization that provides support and temporary lodging for those with loved ones undergoing medical treatment nearby.

Many members of the team have “war stories” from the short lived shootouts, with welts and wounds to prove it. Nathan was able to capture the flag for a win on one of the rounds, and Ben F. made a single person stand for the Hourigan team several times.  Many of the Hourigan ladies, including Katie and Dawn, made a strong push for the flag as well, while Ryan and Brian acted as team strategists, analyzing the other groups’ style and approach. It took a team out there, which wouldn’t be complete without the Hooligans’ spotters who stood outside of the tent yelling to players inside to inform them of enemy activity.

Even still, the Hooligans were outgunned on several occasions. Several team members left the field with large knots, bruises and highlights of orange in their hair. The Hourigan team fell to two familiar and formidable opponents (you know you’re in trouble when your opponents bring their own extensive paintball gear and what appeared to be hired gunners) in Colonial Webb and ODI.

Nonetheless, the Hourigan Hooligans had a wonderful time at the “Splatter that Matters” Paintball Tournament while supporting a great cause. We hope to hone our skills and have an even larger team for next year’s event!
