We’re honored to share that the Elizabeth River Project’s Ryan Resilience Lab—a project we proudly constructed—was featured on NBC’s TODAY Show in a special Earth Day segment.

The spotlight focused on how resilient design can help protect coastal communities from the increasing threats of severe weather and sea level rise. The Ryan Resilience Lab serves as a model for what’s possible when sustainability and innovation converge in the built environment.

Located along the Elizabeth River in Norfolk, VA, this $8.3 million, 6,138-SF facility was designed and built with cutting-edge resilience strategies. Elevated 10 feet above ground on wood piers, it incorporates permeable paving, solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and a living shoreline—providing real-time education and advocacy for environmental stewardship.
