Chesapeake Regional Medical Center Expansion

Overview

Chesapeake Regional Medical Center Expansion

The Master Facility Plan Expansion Project is to strategically grow important services of the hospital including:

Sidney M. Oman Cancer Treatment Center Expansion – The construction of a new 32,000 SF horizontal addition adds technology, such as stereotactic radiosurgery, and advanced imaging tests.

Critical Care Tower – A 75,000 SF vertical expansion to the main hospital. The tower includes 22 new intensive care rooms, 28 new step-down rooms and a shell floor that allows for a future 28-bed floor. The existing ICU, 12,000 SF, was renovated to enlarge the rooms for a total of 8 new rooms. As part of the Critical Care expansion, a horizontal addition houses a new hybrid operating room and space for a second operating room.

Mother/Baby Unit Renovation – A 24,000 SF renovation of the birthing center to include a short-term neonatal intensive care unit and make each postpartum room 1 ½ times larger.

Existing Physical Plant Upgrade & Expansion – An upgrade to the existing Physical Plant equipment and expansion of the building footprint by 4,200 SF to house new boilers, controls & monitoring and emergency generator system upgrade. The Physical Plant was doubled in size and new utility piping were extended over the Emergency Entry road on the single span pipe bridge.
